Boston-based asset manager State Street Global Advisors (SSGA), the asset management arm of State Street Corporation, announced the appointment of Ellen Tsang as head of marketing for Asia ex-Japan on April 12.
According to a statement from the firm, Ms Tsang will be responsible for developing marketing strategies and initiatives for SSGA’s intermediary and institutional channels in Asia ex-Japan. Based in Hong Kong, she reports directly to Richard Parker, SSGA’s London-based global head of institutional marketing, and locally to June Wong, the head of Asia ex-Japan.
“Ellen is a seasoned marketer with more than two decades of experience,” says Mr Parker. “Her in-depth knowledge of asset management and financial marketing makes her an ideal fit to lead our integrated marketing approach to deepen client engagement, facilitate distribution activity and ultimately enhance our brand presence in the region.”
Prior to joining SSGA, Ms Tsang served as head of marketing for Asia ex-Japan at Standard Life Investments. Before that, she had stints at Amundi Asset Management, Pictet Asset Management, and with distributors, including MassMutual and BCT Group.
“We are pleased to have Ellen joining our Hong Kong office,” says Ms Wong. “Ellen has a unique background in our industry, including experience not only on asset management but also the distribution front. Ellen’s knowledge brings tremendous value to State Street Global Advisors’ business as we look to expand our intermediary and institutional businesses in Asia ex-Japan.”
SSGA had approximately US$2.7 trillion in total AUM globally as at September 30, 2017. Its Asian AUM was $318 billion, up from $295 billion at the end of 2016, a company spokesperson tells Asia Asset Management.
